Black as always been my uniform. Even before MAC made it cool. Or rather, before I knew of MAC. 75% of my wardrobe is black. I think this reflects how low-maintenance I want my life to be. Black is easy to wear as it goes with everything, easy to wash as it overpowers everything and hides a whole manner of clumsy accidents. As such, I’m really trying my best here folks, mostly because I am desperate to be more fashionable in the warmer months as opposed to just discarding items of clothing in order to preserve my black aesthetic.
I’d like to say I have some magic tips&tricks to ease the transition from one non-color to another, but I’m afraid you just have to bite the bullet on this one. Whether you go slow and steady, swapping one piece for another, or favor the band-aid approach, I leave you with this warning, from one klutz to another : always have something big and bright enough with you, be it jacket or bag, to hide the inevitable onslaught of inexplicable, staining occurrences.
Below, I share with you two looks for the spring/summer season – a day look, for your headless chicken errand running days, and a night look, for those warm nights you spend sipping on cocktails and listening to live jazz. Or just wish your life was suddenly cool enough to do it.
