What I’ve not mentioned yet is that, besides being a charming little town, it also seems to be chock-a-block full with a variety of eateries and cafes. I could probably dedicate a whole eating out series just to this one town. Any excuse really!

Truth be told, it became quickly apparent that people here like a good meal out. Everywhere you go is absolutely full of restaurants and the like. Whatsmore, they all seem busy! This place is also placed quite strategically in a busy intersection, right across from the harbour so it gets plenty of foot traffic.

In this case, The Red Berry attracted me with the promise of award winning coffee and Carte d’Or ice cream. I’m a self confessed ice cream addict, byt-the-by. I eat it all year round in what may be deemed as insane quantities.

As you can see in the pictures, however, it serves quite a wide variety of food, from breakfast staples to burgers. But, like I pointed out in a previous post, I’m all about the sugar rush.

While it looks pretty swish from the outside, the inside really sold it to me. I’ve usually given up on picking where I’m eating out based on decor. Saying that, it’s always a happy bonus when the place looks pretty/instagramable. Also, I’m a sucker for some exposed wooden beaming and the black boards remind me of school in a slightly nostalgic way.

I made a beeline for the ice cream sundaes and it took me all of 2 seconds to decide on my order – Coppa Nutella. Yes, it’s as moreish and delicious as it sounds. It’s also huge. To complete my chocolate coma, I ordered a mint mocha too which, as you can see, is overflowing. Matt decided to be slightly more sensible than the loon ordering ice cream in January and went for cake and hot chocolate. You could have probably rolled us out of there by the end.

I could go into mouth-watering detail of how yummy it all was. I could even tell you that was the best sundae I’ve ever had but, ultimately, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Before I end this, I need to insert another gratuitous shot of that delicious monster. I mean – look at it. It’s practically illuminated by light shinning down from the heavens. All the other ice cream combinations sounded delicious aswell. Thankfully you can take a lovely beach walk after to burn off all that extra energy. Or maybe you just settle in, mainling more delicious cups of coffee.
