This post is going to start with a bit of a humblebrag – I got invited to my first ever press show! The lovely people at Debenhams emailed me asking if I’d like to come to the Debenhams SS17 Fashion Show and, after about 10 minutes of completely unladylike jumping up and down, I accepted! It’s been so cold, dreary and wet around these parts that I was so ready to get a small taste of the warm seasons lying ahead.
As part of the day, myself and several other lovely Northern Irish bloggers got whisked off, curtosy of Belfast Mini Coaches, to Dublin. Yep, you heard that right – blogger roadtrip! We spent the couple of hours getting to know eachother and talking shop before getting dropped off in the heart of Dublin.
We went straight for the mothership itself – the Debenhams store on Henry Street. And when I say “mothership”, I mean it! It’s without a doubt the largest Debenhams store I’ve ever been to, sprawling across several floors and housed in the most excitingly futuristic, swish looking building I’ve seen in awhile. I secretely like to think it glistens in the sunshine like a beacon to shoppers everywhere.
Once there, we got treated to some nibbles and a spot of shopping. We all somehow ended up congregating on the ground floor, around the makeup counters. I know, I know. Girls and makeup, you say? Groundbreaking. But look how gorgeous everything looks!
I’d say we didn’t have enough time to spend there but then I’m not sure how long would have really been enough. I, for one, could have probably spent the entire evening smelling perfume samples (seriously, how do you decide when you’ve had enough scent sniffing?) and looking at samples.
We were finally asked to make our way towards the main event, the fashion show held just a stone throw away, at the Pillar Room, part of the Rotunda Hospital. Well, you can bet I got lost about twice in the process but thankfully you can always count on a helpful Dubliner to steer you back on course.
Either that or I went by the smell of gin.
I never was much of a gin drinker but, after having a taste of Gunpoweder Irish Gin, I come to you with the only words of wisdom you will ever need regarding this drink – love yourself and go more upmarket because, as this particular gin showed, there are some really delicious options out there! Bonus: pretty Instagramable packaging!
After a peruse of the great theBalm Cosmetics offerings, we were all suitably excited fo the Debenhams SS17 Fashion Show. Phones and DSLRs were pulled out and we all got to enjoy a preview of the Spring- Summer 2017 womenswear trends. They chose to go with five themes – athlesiure, garden party, embroidery, swimwear and, hands down my favorite, bridal.
The bridal collection even came down to the music of Lana del Rey so I knew I was going to love it. This Debut combo stole my heart. I have no idea where I’d wear it which probably means EVERYWHERE. Because you can’t be overdressed if you look fabulous, am I right? In all honesty, I admit that I was dreading the onslaught of pink this season, in particular. The more I stumble upon gorgeous pieces, however, the more I think I couldn’t go far wrong with a shade of blush pink, at the very least!
Thank you so much to the entire Debenhams team for putting this lovely show together, to Kelly for the invite and to Tracey for all her wonderful help on the day! Really excited for everything else to come!
